Instructions for Making Contributions to the Rotary Foundation

Posted July 8, 2011

  1. Checks should be made out to “The Rotary Foundation“. Do not put anything on the MEMO line (such as Polio).
  2. Use DACDB report #2 — Rotary Foundation Transmittal. By using this report you will not have to look up member numbers etc. Put in the amounts of the contributions, run the report, mark the purpose of the gifts as Annual Fund at the bottom,.
    1. Note that this report only prepares the transmittal — it does not electronically interface with TRF records.
  3. IF THE CONTRIBUTIONS ARE FOR THE FOUNDATION ANNUAL FUND
    1. mail the DACDB Transmittal Report #2 and the checks to the Foundation address shown on the Transmittal Report.
  4. IF THE CONTRIBUTIONS ARE FOR POLIO,
    1. use DACDB Transmittal Report #2, mark ANNUAL FUND at bottom, make checks payable to “Rotary Foundation” and do not list “polio” on the check or memo.
    2. Mail the Transmittal Report and the check(s) to Sherry Nielsen, D6080 Foundation Chair along with a separate note that it is for POLIO.
    3. Sherry will give the club and the individuals Annual Fund credit and allocate DDF to fulfill the donor’s wishes to support the Polio campaign.
  5. IF YOU WANT TO USE THE DISTRICT MATCH, use DACDB Transmittal Report #2, mark ANNUAL FUND at bottom, mail the report and checks to Sherry Nielsen, along with note of who wants the match credits. Sherry will attach the appropriate paperwork and forward to TRF.
  6. Mail Transmittal Report and checks to:
    Sherry Nielsen
    Rotary 6080 Foundation Chair
    PO Box 1456
    Laurie, MO 65038

Sherry explains a little about the process we are using:

  • Gifts given directly to polio do not count towards the districts “district designated fund” (DDF).
  • Gifts given directly to polio do not help the Foundation with operating expenses.
  • $1 given directly to polio equals $1 given to polio
  • $1 given through the district to the Annual Fund is multiplied by 1.5x to equal $1.50 given to polio via a match from TRF.
  • When a club collects $1 for polio and sends it through the district,
    • The district sends the money to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund
    • The district sends $1 from the districts DDF to polio
    • TRF we get a 50 cent match towards the polio fund

By sending money in this fashion, we benefit The Foundation, we benefit the District, and we benefit Polio program.
