Over 5 million Americans are infected with hepatitis c and 75% don’t know they are infected! There 5 times more people with HCV than HIV! One of the groups most affected are the baby boomers, between the ages of 45 and 65. HCV has no symptoms until the disease has advanced and this can take 10 to 50 years. Every year 12,000 to 17,000 people die from Hepatitis. And that number will TRIPLE over the next 10 years.Who is at risk? How do you get HCV? How do you know if you are infected? What can you do about it? These answers and more are available in a short presentation for your members. Bruce Burkett, founder and Executive Director of the Missouri Hepatitis C Alliance is available to provide education across the state at no charge. Mr. Burkett is a HCV survivor, a steering committee member of the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable, Executive Council member of the National Hepatitis C Advocacy Council. | AmerenUE Proposed New Nuclear Plant |
Barbara Peterson |
(573) 676-4344 |
New Nuclear Communications |
bpeterson@ameren.com |
To meet an ever-increasing demand in electricity, AmerenUE will need a new baseload generating plant online within the 2018-2020 timeframe. That's why the company is preserving the option to build a second nuclear power plant next to the existing nuclear plant near Fulton, Mo., in Callaway County.
When compared to coal, natural gas and oil, nuclear energy has the lowest electricity production costs.
If AmerenUE decides to build a second nuclear plant, it will be the largest single construction project in Missouri's history costing billions of dollars. It would provide thousands of construction jobs, hundreds of new permanent jobs and millions of new tax dollars distributed among counties in AmerenUE's service territory. Most importantly, Callaway 2 would play a vital role in securing Missouri's energy future by providing electricity to more than 1 million households every year.
While the decision to build is still several years away, a project of this magnitude has the potential to impact many Missouri communities. To hear more about the proposed new nuclear plant, please contact Barb Peterson at (573) 676-4344 or bpeterson@ameren.com. I will arrange to have someone from our speakers bureau meet with your group to provide more details about the project.
Also, should you have a last-minute speaker cancellation, generally we can step in on short notice. |
